Scott Sanders VIEW PROFILE

We lost Scott Sanders to cancer on May Day 2013. Scott was a wonderful guitar player and singer who favored Neil Young covers. He occasionally treked back from his home in Tacoma, WA, to Southern California to hang out and play with the band of Deep Water Seaweed brothers. Fortunately, Nick caught Scott's haunting voice and confident guitarwork on several great recordings on SoundCloud.

Please share your memories about Scott's life and times here.

Scott was an El Centro boy with an always positive outlook on just about everything. I remember him as a funny kid who liked to laugh... was always pleasant to be around...

Scott was a good soccer partner. He played for The Baracudas In the AYSO. Scott played center-half. I had the pleasure of playing along side of him as left-half. We won the city championship that year.

Scott was a team player on the field, as well as off the field.

So many memories, good and bad. We took it full circle, from your apartment in Alhambra, my house on Stratford, the fry brains on Mission, the HOUSE in Monterey Park with Dave and Buddy, Donna and Laura across from the Rialto, Braewood, where we had many a psychedelic adventure. I can go on and on. I think I will... Road trips, acid trips, quilt trips, trippy trips. Crap, we sure had some fun !  Visiting Ruger in San Clemente with my brother John, Braewood tales in Brewbuyers garage, concerts, the Arroyo gig, selling avocados for beer money, our crime spree after I stole those bolt cutters....ok, ok, I better stop. But, I must  mention the great 100 Proof Band with Ron Diaz, Dave Demeree and Benny Pieters ( who turned into Lester at some point) and the gig at Ingleside that changed the direction of our lives. Scott, I don't know what happened....( well, I kinda do) but in the long run, it all worked out well. The road took us to a renewed and more mature friendship, a true unity in brotherhood and love. It  also lead us to Nick's studio and to the forces of Deep Water Seaweed. We, once again, made some killer music. Forever thankful to you, my brother, with gracing us with your beautiful gifts. I always loved harmonizing with you and you never asked me to be back off inspite of my lack of voice, haha. Forever thankful to Nick for capturing it all, good and bad. Thanks to Pete Mc Cauley, Mike Thurman, Ron Diaz, Herbs Shon, Nick Neutra and Tavito Olmos for giving of their wonderful gifts of  talents as well.  I love you all.  And Scott...Long may you run, See you again my brother.
